The Minerva Campaign is situated in an
imaginary world that resembles our own planet (timeframe around 1915), but events
that took place in our world might be set at different dates or in different
places in
this fictional setting, thus making any resemblance between this fiction and
real history, -people, -events and -places purely a matter of imagination.

TSA-Portal: fact or fiction... |
|
|
Will we soon travel through Space via a Turbo Space Access Portal? The warp drive,
the means to travel in space (also known as the "Turbo Space
Access Portal" - short: TSA-Portal), could
someday (soon?) become science instead of science fiction!
Luckily for us, this speed limit (according to Einstein) only applies within space-time (the continuum of three dimensions of space plus one of time that we live in). While any given object can't travel faster than light speed within space-time, theory holds, perhaps space-time itself could travel. "The idea is that you take a chunk of space-time and move it. The object inside that bubble thinks that it's not moving at all. It's the space-time that's moving." One reason this idea seems credible is that scientists think it may already have happened....Some models suggest that space-time expanded at a rate faster than light speed during a period of rapid inflation shortly after the Big Bang. If it could do it for the Big Bang, why not for our space drives?... To make the technique feasible, scientists will have to think of some creative new means of propulsion to move space-time rather than an object or person. According to General Relativity, any concentration of mass or energy warps space-time around it (by this reasoning, gravity is simply the curvature of space-time that causes smaller masses to fall inward toward larger masses). |
So perhaps some unique geometry of mass or exotic form of energy can manipulate a bubble of space-time so that it moves faster than light-speed, and carries any objects within it along for the ride. "If we find
some way to alter the properties of space-time in an imbalanced fashion,
so behind the spacecraft it's doing one thing and in front of it it's
doing something else, will then space-time push on the object or person
and move it?". Other studies found that the region between two parallel uncharged metal plates seems to have less energy than the surrounding space. Scientists have termed this a kind of "negative energy," which might be just the thing needed to move space-time. The catch is that massive amounts of this negative energy would probably be required to warp space-time enough to transport a bubble faster than light speed. Huge breakthroughs will be needed not just in propulsion but in energy. Some experts think harnessing the mysterious force called dark energy thought to power the acceleration of the universe's expansion could provide the key.
Even though it's a far cry between these preliminary lab results and actual warp drives, some physicists are optimistic. "We still
don't even know if those things are possible or impossible, but at least
we've progressed far enough to where there are things that we can actually
research to chip away at the unknowns, even if they turn out to be impossible,
by asking these questions, we're likely to discover things that otherwise
we might overlook." Gust Costers - editor in chief. |

Earth's
"twin sister": rumours or real?
|
|
|
Too good to be true: the planet Minerva. Just as our Sun has
a dead twin, likewise our Earth has a twin (some call it the planet
Minerva) that shares her orbit and is placed so exactly opposite the
Earth that it can never be seen. Theories about the Earth's twin, which
does exist, have been around for decades. They emerged because of the
observed perturbations of the planets. This twin is close enough, within
our Solar System, to be visible by the reflected rays from the Sun, if
it were not hidden behind the Sun. That the twin matches pace with the
Earth is not by coincidence. During the period when the Earth was knocked
out of her initial orbit by a clash, the Earth found an orbital niche
around the Sun that was appropriate for her size and composition, a niche,
not surprisingly, that the twin likewise fits. Why do these matched planets
place themselves exactly opposite? Any less than this creates an imbalance
in the many forces that control orbits, such that there is pressure and
nudging and pulling and increased or decreased speed on one or the other
until this is perfectly balanced.
Why did the ancient Summerians, quoting from the visitors from Earth's twin Planet, not count this twin? As they counted the Moon, for instance, it would seem too great an oversight for them to miss a planet the approximate size of Earth, and since they counted dead planets as well, there would be no reason for the oversight.

The Ancestors (as the inhabitants of Minerva are called) travelled from their home, Earth's Twin Planet, to the Earth or Mars or the Moon by means (yet...) unknown. Coming in from the outer solar system, and peeping through their version of telescopes, the Ancestors on their home planet could identify the planets by their relative position from the Sun. They not only landed on Earth, they landed on the Moon where they had a telescopic station clear of the Earth's ever cloudy atmosphere. Mars was used until they ruined it, and the Moon was a stopping point only briefly. Their mining operations were a 3,657 year stint, a long time for living off supplies. The Earths twin has likewise been omitted from astronomy lists. Mankinds awareness of this twin arose during the height of the Ancient Egyptian empire. During that time, ALL information learned from aliens was withheld from the public. In the same manner that the records on Jack the Ripper will be sealed for several more decades, these records were sealed, to protect the guilty during their lifetimes. Who is now aware of the Earths twin? A handful of astronomers working at the major observatories under strict control of their governments. Information on the twin is a forbidden subject. This is termed a matter of national security, subject to imprisonment and other harsh punishment, and as those who enter into this realm soon discern, even an accidental death at the hands of those who fear the release of this information. Thus, the common man, without this information that certain parties have, but wont allow the public access to, has no facts by which to arrive at the truth, except what will soon be revealed in Tough Do-Nuts magazine...
